Abstract

The world population growth and the technological development have increased the demands for electricity. Because of the limited deposits of fossil fuel and the negative impact its combustion causes to the environment, the electricity production technologies are orienting towards using the renewable energy sources. From all the renewable energy sources, the most studied one over the last decade is the wind. Wind parameters of interest in electrical study are its speed and direction; once they are measured it is easy to determine other characteristic parameters such as wind energy density on the specific location. In the manuscript, monthly and seasonal mean wind speeds are presented, alongside the wind energy density for five locations in the Republic of Macedonia, for almost four years of measurements.
