Abstract

In this paper, an off-grid hybrid energy system consisting of micro run-of-river hydro power plant, photovoltaic system, wind turbines, diesel generator as a back-up power source, batteries and converters is studied. The objective of this research is to obtain the cost effective configuration of the system, which will meet consumption demands, respecting the total net present costs. HOMER software is used to simulate the system and to determine the most appropriate combination of renewable energy resources. Sensitivity analysis is also performed in order to examine how the average annual wind speed, average annual solar radiation and the fuel price will affect the configuration of the system. At the end the emissions analysis of the verious types of the hybrid energy system is also carried out.
